Teaching Philosophy

Participating in music-making exercises specific skills applicable throughout the lives of students. Music students learn how to collaborate with others, organize time and priorities, and maintain accountability for themselves and others through the making of music. Musicians apply these skills to advance themselves in academics, leadership, and character. Making music is an inherently human experience that, along with training students for the future, improves sensitivity and the ability to notice and appreciate life’s nuances. Music has the ability to help improve lifestyle and well-being by providing meaningful, fulfilling, and artistic experiences.
